What is an Adaptive or Supported Deer Hunt?

Adaptive/Supported Deer Hunts are designed for those 10 and older with disabilities to receive support in transportation or utilize equipment, such as EcoRovers, to navigate the terrain and hunt independently. Key elements include:

  • An overview of the available adaptive equipment and time use the equipment to become familiar with it.
  • A pre-hunt meeting to review key aspects of the hunt, review hunting safety rules and network with the other hunters and DNR staff in the group.
  • 2 hunting sessions provided at minimum (based on location), you are able to commit to fewer sessions based on your availability.
  • Flexibility for new, returning, or novice hunters.
  • Transportation to your blind location.
  • Assistance retrieving harvested game.

We highly suggest that hunters bring an adult buddy with them to the event for any personal or advanced medical needs. Mobility-impaired youth, ages 10-17, MUST have an adult always present with them.
